Aromatherapy Oils For Health and Vitality

May 17, 2021

A number of aromatherapy oils have depurative properties. The meaning of the word depurative is that these oils mentioned below assist your body to cleanse or purify itself. It can also assist in the removal of waste products from the body and support the lymphatic system.

How to Use Aromatherapy Oils In Your Healthcare Regime:

  1. Body Application

Essential oils that support detoxification can be blended together and added to a carrier oil ( such as almond, wheat germ, coconut or light olive oil) and applied directly onto the skin.

Tip: Ensure that the oil chosen as the carrier oil is a 'cold pressed oil'. This means that the oil is taken at the first pressing when the oil is made and is at its purest form.

  1. Detoxifying Bath Salts

How to Make Your Own Bath Salts: Recipe

  • Use 10 drops of your selected essential oil to every 100g of Epsom Salts. (Epsom Salts can be purchased in your local grocery store, health store or online).
  • Mix together thoroughly and store in an airtight container for one week before use to reach maximum maturity and absorption. This time allows for the aromas to blend together.
  • To Use:

Measure out a small handful of the bath salts into a warm bath:be sure to add them directly under the warm running water so they can thoroughly dissolve before you get into the bath.

Ensure your bath time is a SPECIAL TIME and ensure that you will not be disturbed. Light a candle while you are in the bath and be sure to RELAX.

  • To Store:

You can store the aromatic salt in glass jars in your bathroom and decorate them with dried flowers, ribbons and fabric decorations. You can also make individual use bath sachets from small gauge bags and decorate these too. Store in an airtight container.

Tip:

  1. Remember to make a note in your Gratitude Journal to keep track of when you have a bath. You can even schedule it to make sure it occurs. For many busy people with families and jobs this time offers an opportunity to create some 'alone' time during your day.
  1. It is recommended NOT to remain in the bath for longer than twenty minutes as the body moves into homeostasis and begins to release minerals.
  1. Take a bath once a week. The warmth of the bath water allows your body to relax and supports the emotional "Letting Go": process while being supported in the bath water. See processes later in this post.

Bathing – 'Letting Go' Exercise

Fill the bath with warm, not hot water. Add the oils or bath salts to your bath. Relax in the bath for no longer than twenty minutes. Just before you are ready to get out, close your eyes and relax, taking a deep breath. Allow yourself to imagine all your concerns and 'stuff' that you have been holding onto  to just fall away from you into the bath water. Pull the bath plug out while you are still in the bath and allow the water to drain while you remain in the water. Wait until the bath is empty. Imagine all the old energy, the unwanted 'stuff' you just let go of, which you no longer need draining away out of the bath. Then shower briefly, towel dry and dress.
